Adam is a compassionate and attentive social worker who provides online therapy for adults living in Ontario, Canada. He specializes in helping people who are struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. He often works with people who have a history of trying to be too perfect, putting other people’s needs first, and being overly self-critical. Adam is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but he takes a holistic and flexible approach that is always tailored to the needs of clients. He hopes that people will leave therapy with a versatile toolkit to help them move through challenges, navigate their inner worlds, and experience personal growth. Adam’s approach to therapy is often based on mindfulness and acceptance. This work often involves helping people learn to be more present with difficult thoughts and feelings so they can be kinder to themselves and take actions that provide a sense of meaning and purpose. Adam received his Master of Social Work in 2008 and has 14 years of professional social work experience in diverse settings. He has been providing psychotherapy services to individuals since 2021.
Do you expect yourself to be perfect and compare yourself to others? Are you afraid of making mistakes or not meeting others' expectations? Do you only feel good about yourself when you get praise from others? Do you agree to things just to avoid disappointing or upsetting people? Are you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by trying to meet your own high standards and other people's expectations? If perfectionism or people pleasing are causing you to suffer, you're not alone. Therapy can help you set achievable goals and create personal limits. I use a mindfulness-based approach that will help you notice your imperfections without judging them and learn how to be kinder to yourself. Perfectionism and people pleasing can manifest as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and interpersonal conflict. They can also become coping strategies for people with ADHD or a history of trauma. I understand the courage it takes to ask for help and the importance of finding the right therapist. If it sounds like my approach might fit with what you are looking for, please reach out - I would love to hear from you!
