About Claire | They/them

Claire is a trauma-focused counselor in Asheville, North Carolina. They are person-centered, seeking to understand your experience from your perspective, and use multicultural counseling, exploring the systems that impact your life. Claire is trained in EMDR therapy and acute stress modalities to support you in moving through trauma, whether it be acute, ongoing, or long past. They also have a somatic focus, inviting your body’s responses into the session, and an attachment-based lens, looking at how your early relationships influence how you relate to others now. They also intentionally add in techniques of other evidence-based practices as needed, such as mindfulness and parts work. Claire works with adults of all ages and enjoys working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community, especially those who are gender expansive, because they are queer and genderfluid themself! They also have experience supporting neurodiverse people; people struggling with anxiety or grief; and individuals going through personal, spiritual, vocational, and relational transitions.

If I had to choose one word to describe Claire as a therapist, it would be intentional. I’m consistently impressed by how thoughtful, curious, and engaged they are with each of their clients. They put in the effort between sessions to grow and learn as a clinician so they can bring fresh knowledge and insight back to their clients. In sessions, Claire’s warm, calm energy naturally puts others at ease. I highly recommend them!

Peer review

Claire is incredibly reflective, kind, and present, both as a therapist and as a human. They consider so many facets of a person's identities and experiences when providing care, which results in a lot of safety, openness, and curiosity in the therapeutic space. They are also a dedicated learner, and I appreciate their commitment to learning and growing. They are a stellar clinician!
