About
Cristina Oliver, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist practicing in Miami and Doral, Florida. She has provided psychotherapy since 2012 and brings over a decade of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. Cristina specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based, skills-focused approach designed to help people better understand intense emotions and change patterns that no longer serve them. She completed foundational training in DBT through Behavioral Tech and spent 12 years working within a fully adherent DBT program in a group practice setting. She now offers DBT-informed treatment in private practice, integrating cognitive-behavioral and relational approaches to support meaningful, lasting change. Her work focuses on emotionally sensitive and reactive individuals who struggle with fear of abandonment or rejection, impulsive or avoidant behaviors, self-harm urges, body image concerns, and ongoing relationship conflict. She also works with high-conflict couples and family members who want practical tools to better support loved ones who experience emotions more intensely. As a marriage and family therapist, Cristina approaches treatment through a relational lens, helping clients understand how patterns develop and how to shift them. She believes change happens within a collaborative and grounded therapeutic relationship. Her style is structured, direct, and compassionate, balancing skill-building with insight to help clients build emotional stability and stronger, more secure connections. Cristina earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Carlos Albizu University and works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in person and online.

Message to clients
If you’ve ever wondered why your emotions feel so intense, you’re not alone, and you’re not flawed. Maybe you react quickly and later wish you had handled things differently. Maybe you shut down when conversations feel too intense. You might find yourself stuck in the same arguments or carrying a quiet fear of being rejected, left, or misunderstood. That can feel exhausting and lonely. I work with people who feel deeply. People who care a lot about their relationships but struggle with how strong their emotions can be. I also support couples who love each other and want things to feel calmer and more secure, but don’t know how to step out of painful cycles. In our work together, we move at a steady and thoughtful pace. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help you build practical skills for managing intense feelings, slowing down reactions, and communicating more clearly. You’ll learn tools you can use in everyday life, especially in the moments that feel hardest. At the same time, we gently explore the patterns underneath your reactions. We look at where they began and how they make sense. The goal is not to change who you are, but to help you feel more grounded, more confident, and more connected. If you’re ready for support that is structured, compassionate, and steady, I’m here. You don’t have to carry this alone.
