About Emily | She/her

Emily St. Amant is a licensed professional counselor in Tennessee. She works with teens and adults who are dealing with things like stress, difficult transitions and circumstances, traumatic events, grief, discrimination, and systemic marginalization. Many of her clients are people seeking recovery from religious abuse, toxic workplaces, and abusive relationships, and those who are living with mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, suicide risk, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She specializes in working with people seeking recovery from substance use and also welcomes clients who are active substance users. She enjoys working with clients from diverse backgrounds and strives to offer a safe, affirming space for the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, disabled individuals, and other marginalized groups. Being a military spouse herself, she is honored to work with active military members, their families, and veterans. Because of her Humanistic and person-centered approach, she draws out the strengths of her clients and focuses each session on their individual goals and needs. Emily uses a variety of evidence-based treatment interventions and believes no two people need the same approach. There is no universal formula for creating positive change. Your path is your own. The job of a counselor is to help you find your footing and support you on your unique journey.

Message to clients

Counseling can be many things for different people, whether someone is in crisis or seeking to improve their health, relationships, and life overall. Many people experience a “straw that breaks the camel back” type of event, and after a long time (sometimes years) of dealing with pain and burdens on their own, they finally feel like they can ask for help. More people are now realizing they don’t have to be at their breaking point to deserve support, and for them, counseling can be a powerful tool for personal growth. Others seek counseling as a prevention resource to take action before situations or their health gets worse. I’m a former minister, and this makes me a great fit for current and former faith leaders who are dealing with personal issues, struggling in their faith or church placement, or transitioning out of the ministry. I identify as neurodiverse and love working with others who also see the world a little differently. Those who work with me can expect to experience a safe and supportive space. My approach is very down to earth, and I aim to use research-backed therapy interventions in a way that’s accessible and helpful. Please reach out to schedule a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit and with any questions.
