Jacob is a psychotherapist for adults looking to discover the best version of themselves. His specialities include addressing work stress/burnout, relationship issues, trauma/PTSD, men’s issues, and improving communication/boundaries. High-achievers, people-pleasers, and life-transitioners often find their way into his practice. He tends to use psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR, and humanistic approaches in therapy, but honestly, all the schooling and training in the world don't mean much if the therapist just isn't a good fit for you. And it all starts with getting to know each other (and that's a two way street - therapy isn’t going to help much if the person you’re talking to is just like a brick wall). Jacob offers gently challenging, emotionally-attuned therapy for people who are hungry to connect the dots strewn throughout their life to reveal the big picture.
Hey there - I’m Jacob, a therapist for those amongst us who are constantly reaching for something more, yet also find themselves held back by impossibly high expectations, fear of failure, and limiting self-beliefs. My goal is to unravel the complicated, call out the excuses we tell ourselves, and support you in identifying the barriers holding you back from living the life you really want to live. If you see yourself in this group, you’re probably looking for somebody who can be real with you. Somebody who can supportively and gently call you out on all those charming defenses and distractions you so skillfully employ. These have always come in handy when things become a little too raw or vulnerable. They protect you–and also prevent you from moving beyond the status quo. And at this point, that’s most likely the exact thing you’re trying to change. Just because you can push through alone, that doesn't mean you have to. You need a therapist who will challenge you to push past this misleading sense of safety. Somebody who will see you on the inside and also understand why and how you’ve crafted such a meticulous exterior. Somebody who will help you find the words to describe all those wild feelings you’ve worked so hard to hide from everyone. I work with people just like you.
