Her approach is holistic, taking into consideration all areas of a child’s life and functioning, and centers on strengthening the parent-child bond and helping to improve children’s self-esteem and enhance parents’ confidence and parenting skills. Dr. Cain draws from a wide range of validated treatment approaches and methods, working as a team with parents to guide them toward loving, effective communication with their children, and toward the positive outcomes they are seeking. Dr. Cain holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and is a member of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology. When your child has challenges or has experienced an upsetting event, it can feel overwhelming. You might be worried, confused, frustrated, angry, or despairing. Family and friends don’t always understand and may give unhelpful advice. It can be tremendously helpful having someone knowledgeable and compassionate to come alongside you with support, guidance, and the practical “nuts and bolts” of what to do to get things back on track. Many problems can be solved with the right approach, and longstanding challenges can be managed more effectively. Sometimes my clients have found that making a simple change can yield bigger results than they realized. There is a lot you can do as a parent to help your child. There are ways to manage behaviors while building a stronger, healthier bond with your child, ways to ease your child’s emotional pain and stress, ways to help your child be more successful at school and with friends. Consider allowing a knowledgeable professional to help you through this. I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to give you a chance to ask any questions you have, and to give you a sense of what it would be like working with me. You don’t have to do this alone.
