Kate is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist that can see anyone in the state of CA via telehealth. She is the founder of Kate Van Dyke Therapy, where she works with individuals and couples experiencing infertility as they navigate all that comes along – emotionally, mentally, and physically - with a struggle to conceive and fertility treatment. Kate also works with first responders, their spouses, or with both of them together in couples therapy where she enjoys helping them identify coping and communication skills, and means of expressing their emotions, and actionable systems that can help them capitalize on the time they do have at home with their families. Kate believes strongly in our capacity as individuals to grow and enjoys providing a comfortable environment that encourages that growth.
To my first responders – I have quite a few of first responders in my own family and am also married to a firefighter. I believe I bring a valuable and nuanced perspective, both personally and professionally, in my work with first responders and have an incredible passion in exploring with my clients how they can identify stressors in their life and then begin to develop coping skills and systems to make the regular transition from shift work to home life more seamless. I see an incredible amount of strength in those going through fertility struggles. I know that, amid already busy lives filled often with work, relationships, and other responsibilities, it can feel daunting to fit in ongoing fertility treatment. Therapy along the journey can be incredibly impactful as you navigate and process all of the emotions you experience, any triggers that can come up, and as you navigate communicating with your partner and your medical team. Self-advocacy throughout fertility treatment is an incredibly important skill and I work with individuals in building up those skills. I am the therapist for you if you want a supportive space and guide along the way – you do not have to do this alone. If you are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, unable to move forward with your goals or maybe even identify what they are, I work with you on finding your way forward, on building the life you desire to live. I utilize a few approaches in my work with clients, including examining the stories that we tell ourselves about our lives and learning how to rescript the stories that are no longer serving us well. Through working with me, clients report feeling more confidant and more engaged in their work, relationships life overall. Please feel free to reach out today to learn more and get started.
