About
Lisa is originally from Brooklyn, NY, then lived in the Boston area for many years which is when she first opened her private practice. She is now in Connecticut and continues to provide quality therapeutic services to clients. Due to being surrounded by a myriad of cultures growing up, she has developed an understanding of cultures and has developed an appreciation for differences in people. She is an inclusive therapist who values every human being. Lisa has been told by clients often that her style of therapy is different from that of other therapists they have experienced in the past. She is interactive, collaborative, asks thought-provoking questions, and attempts to get to the core issue. She also tracks the efficacy of the therapy and reduces and removes barriers to that progress. She prides herself on "check-ins" with the client, to explore any concerns they have about the therapy, inquiring about their angle of progress and uses that information to enhance the services. She has been told that these techniques cause them to have quicker progress, facilitate a stronger therapeutic alliance. She specializes in Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), adolescents and adults, individual, family and couples counseling. She utilizes an eclectic approach including Trauma informed care, CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Psychodynamic, Emotion focused therapy and use of Meditation and Relaxation techniques.

Message to clients
Hello, It’s the quality of the therapeutic relationship (alliance) that facilitates growth and change. I pride myself on being warm, highly empathetic, naturally curious and a skilled Psychotherapist. In addition, I track the progress/growth of the client and directly address barriers to progress, when they present themselves. I consider myself a Trauma-Informed therapist–we all have had traumatic events in our lives that can create patterns that are negatively impactful on our emotional, mental and physical health. I create a space that’s safe and supportive, which allows for exploring and healing old hurts. Tuning into our authentic self is the basis for growth. We get messages from early on about what others think we should be and it leads us away from ourselves. I can help you find yourself again and re-connect to your true self. When life transitions and losses occur, they can throw us off balance in many ways. I can support you through these difficult times and with time, heal, grow and thrive. HSP’s and sensitive people can have an extra burden when it comes to relationships (family, romantic) as well as life stressors. We can discuss ways to manage your emotions, sensory sensitivities and deep processing. Be open and committed to the process and let’s work together to improve the quality of your life. I will be with you every step of the way. Reach out for a free 10-minute consultation.

Melissa Ortiz, LPC
Lisa is one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever encountered. She genuinely cares about her clients and goes above and beyond to make sure they have the support and resources they need to be successful. Her approach is thoughtful, responsive, and rooted in a real commitment to helping people feel seen and supported.
Steve Martino, Ph.D.
Ms. Navarra has been well trained in the use of motivational interviewing to address chronic pain management and co-occurring risky substance use. She is a very empathic, compassionate, diligent, reliable, and organized therapist. Patients appreciated her genuineness, kindness, and strength-based view of their recovery potential.
