About Martha | She/her

Martha is a somatic trauma therapist trained in Post-traumatic growth. She has over 7 years of experience in the mental health field, working in all levels of care in eating disorder treatment including inpatient, a substance use recovery program, and a behavioral health urgent care. She has led skills groups, process groups, and individual sessions. Her experience allowed her to discover her true passion, which is helping people with traumatic pasts find confidence in their opinions and needs, and build relationships that *actually* feel good to them. She specializes in somatic therapy because she has found that it is the most profound and quickest way to get people the results they want.

Message to clients

I take a somatic approach to therapy, which might sound a bit abstract, but it’s simple: it’s about feeling things rather than just talking about them. Somatic therapy taps into the way our nervous system works—most of our communication is body-to-brain, not the other way around. That’s why it’s tough to talk our way out of anxiety, and why talk therapy has its limits. My work is also relational, because many of my clients have experienced relational trauma—wounds from past relationships like neglectful parents or emotionally abusive partners. Healing these wounds requires connection, which is why the therapeutic relationship itself becomes part of the healing process. The struggles you bring into therapy—whether it's feeling unseen, struggling to ask for help, or trying to please others—will show up in the room. That's where change begins: addressing these patterns as they arise between us. I’m not a detached, "blank-slate" therapist. I’m human, and I bring my whole self into the room—laughing, crying, and relating to you from a place of genuine connection. I don’t have all the answers, but I do see us as a team, exploring what’s most meaningful for *you* and how we can navigate your journey together.

I had the privilege to work alongside Martha for several years as part of an eating disorder treatment team, and I cannot recommend her highly enough as a therapist! Martha brings a deep compassion and empathy to her work with her clients, balancing warmth and gentleness with playfulness and humor. I always trusted that our shared clients were in good hands with Martha, and she was continually growing and expanding her skillset to continue to provide our clients with different therapeutic approaches.
