Muldarde Fortune is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with years of experience in various settings, including inpatient psychiatric work, therapy, case management, and hospital emergency room care. Her treatment approaches consist of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Practices, and more. Muldarde has had the opportunity to learn about and provide therapeutic services in places such as New York, Oregon, and China. Each location and demographic of clients have allowed her to expand her therapeutic reach, knowledge, and cultural humility in order to provide good care that ensures that each client’s personal culture, history, life experiences, and present reality are not forgotten. Muldarde specializes in assessing and diagnosing children with ADHD. The assessment process utilizes a thorough tool that gathers feedback from both parents and teachers, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the child’s behavior in different settings. Furthermore, regardless of whether your child is diagnosed with ADHD, Muldarde provides parents with psychoeducation that will help promote healthy behavioral and emotional regulation in their children. Muldarde also specializes in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy used to treat adolescent trauma and/or PTSD. This evidence-based approach helps children process their traumatic experiences, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and reduce distressing symptoms. Muldarde treats adults with depression and anxiety, who struggle with negative thinking, anxiety attacks, hopelessness, feelings of shame, etc. Additionally, she specializes in therapeutic care for first generation immigrants/Americans who struggle to succeed in ways that align with their parents’ values, while also trying to pursue their own goals, happiness, and identity.
“Life is hard – not because we’re doing it wrong, just because it’s hard” – Glennon Doyle. I start off with this quote because I think it’s important to acknowledge that we all have things we struggle with and want to overcome. It can be difficult to find our footing and determine what the next best steps are and how to let go of the things we cannot control. I wholeheartedly understand how difficult it is to ask for help and how time-consuming the steps to improvement can be, not to mention the monumental fatigue of searching for a therapist you connect with. Because let’s face it, IT’S EXHAUSTING! It is for these reasons that I applaud you on pursuing self-growth, change and improvement through therapy. Should you decide to work with me, it is important to note that I have a task-oriented approach to therapy, meaning that I work with you towards the goals you want to achieve with the intention of successfully discharging from therapy. I understand and want to fully acknowledge that therapy is an investment in yourself, your loved ones, and financially. My approach developed during COVID as I worked with many adults, parents, and families that had to figure out how to budget their time and finances for therapy. That said, I encourage two-way communication and want you to feel comfortable sharing with me what you feel works or doesn’t work. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
