About
Dr. Khandekar’s clinical practice spans almost 20 years and includes experience across variety of clinical settings from college counseling centers, inpatient medical units, to military mental health clinics and inpatient psychiatric hospital settings. For the last 10 years, Dr. Khandekar has been working with individuals coping with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders in both inpatient and outpatient psychology settings. Dr. Khandekar was a core faculty member for the Navy psychology APA-accredited internship program from 2017-2023, where she supervised doctoral psychology interns in emergency psychiatry and inpatient mental health. During this time, she also helped develop the VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of First-Episode Psychosis and Schizophrenia; a guideline designed providing evidence-based recommendations for the management of these disorders. She continues to serve as associate faculty for the Naval Medical Center San Diego psychiatry residency program, providing psychotherapy training and consultation to psychiatry residents. Currently Dr. Khandekar maintains a part-time outpatient psychology practice in San Diego, specializing in treating healthcare professionals, burnout, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related conditions. She also specializes in multiculturally sensitive treatment, often working with first or second-generation individuals managing the challenges associated with navigating multiple cultural identities.

Message to clients
Are you a professional feeling the weight of burnout, wondering if you will have anything left to give at the end of the day? Do you struggle with a persistent sense of overwhelm that makes even the simplest tasks feel monumental? Or perhaps you find yourself feeling as though you've lost touch with yourself due to symptoms of depression or anxiety? If these questions resonate with you, please know you are not alone, and support is available. My name is Dr. Pia Khandekar, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing in person therapy to residents of San Diego, and virtual therapy throughout the state of California. I aim to provide my clients with a safe, therapeutic space to process concerns relating to anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and burnout. My approach is rooted in evidence-based, trauma-informed, and multiculturally sensitive care. Together, we will work collaboratively to help you build resilience, set healthy boundaries, and develop effective coping strategies tailored to your specific needs. I know that taking the first step can be the hardest, but it can also be the most transformative. If you're ready to move from simply surviving to thriving, I invite you to reach out and schedule a consultation so together, we can help you find balance and a greater sense of well-being.
