I’m a somatic trauma therapist, belonging coach, yoga teacher, educator and facilitator living on Anishinaabe land (Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA). My expertise and passion lands at the intersection of racial identity, trauma, relationships and belonging. I help mixed adults, interracial couples, and other people living with trauma feel whole and feel emotionally connected to others on an embodied level. My approach integrates mindfulness, movement, touch and talk to help you feel more at home in your body and connected to other people. I'm trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, NeuroAffective Touch, Somatic Parts Work, Yoga, and more.
Do you feel stuck? Do you struggle with overwhelming emotions or feel imprisoned by what triggers you? Do you struggle with maintaining relationships or feeling a sense of belonging? Chances are your body is stuck in a state of self-defense. I want you to know you’re not broken. Though it might not always feel incredibly helpful, these defensive states are our bodies' way of looking out for us. When I first started learning about trauma, stress, and the nervous system I felt like everything finally made sense. I felt like I finally made sense. And I felt like I had options. You can feel better in your body. Just like your body looks out for you, I can help you look out for your body in return. The people I work with struggle with things like confidence, insecurities and shame, feeling triggered, avoidance and procrastination, rejection sensitivity, making or maintaining healthy and satisfying relationships, setting boundaries, expressing needs, social anxiety, and more. I enjoy working with those with developmental and/or relational trauma. I also specialize in supporting mixed race individuals and interracial couples. My somatic approach helps you get more connected to yourself and feel better in your body so that you can more easily connect to others.
