About Tom | He/him

Tom Earnshaw is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a big personality and an extensive background working in psychiatric hospitals (Timberlawn for 4 years and the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Parkland for 8 years). After attending the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for 5 years, he took a victory lap, he attended University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). From Ole Miss he received a BA in Psychology and a Master of Science in Social Work from UTA. He is qualified to work with most anything and has extensive experience with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, bipolar, and psychosis. Tom is passionate about helping people. He absolutely loves being a therapist and doing therapy. He believes that there is nothing better than seeing the light go on in a client’s eyes when they figure out whatever they’ve been searching for. To him, there is no greater feeling than knowing that he could be a tiny part of that light going off. It is his belief that this is his role as a therapist, to help ignite that light, and not to tell clients what to do. Tom brings a sense of humor to the work of therapy and relishes that his clients can fire him at any time, and he will help them find his replacement. Tom believes that the strength of the working relationship is just as important as the science behind it. Thus, he wants his clients to move forward in life –even if it is without him!

Message to clients

We will "play" with your thoughts in therapy. We believe that our thoughts are facts. Forgetting that the same brain that tells us we need to feel guilty about eating a bowl of ice cream was the same one not 10 minutes before telling us to eat it. So, we curiously, kindly and with a little humor explore these thoughts. Soon they seem more like options than demands.
