Wendy is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and a grief counselor whose background is in birth and death doula work. She is particularly awed by grief's ability to transform and expand our lives. A long-time supporter of those in transition, Wendy works with clients experiencing all types of grief, anxiety & depression, relational trauma, and has a strong affinity with neurodivergent and highly sensitive people. Bringing a calm and loving presence to any situation, she believes fervently in the healing power of meditation, being in nature, yoga, music, storytelling and laughter, and is always looking for ways to incorporate these elements into her healing practice. Wendy is an IFS-informed parts therapist, and also works with ideas from Buddhist philosophy, Nonviolent Communication and Attachment Theory to help clients grow their self-compassion, self-awareness so they can embrace life fully with ease and joy.
Hello and thank you for checking out my profile! My name is Wendy and I'm a licensed therapist who specializes in grief, anxiety, depression, caregiver stress, relational trauma and neurodivergence. My work with clients is largely based in Internal Family Systems (IFS), also called Parts Therapy. IFS is based on the idea that we are all made up of various emotional parts, the scared part, the excited part, the doubting part, the angry part, etc. Behind all those parts is the Self, which is the wisest part of us, the part that can take care of all the other parts, providing safety, acknowledgment and love. You can think of the Self as a compassionate witness to your life, and clients working with me learn how to access the Self when stress arises, so that you can guide yourself away from reactivity, panic and rage and toward responsiveness, safety and calm. I’m also a fan of meditation and I offer a donation-based online meditation group to my clients each month. This is a great way to practice healing in the context of community, something I think our world really needs. In addition, I teach Nonviolent Communication to help clients improve their communication skills, and I’m inspired by Buddhist psychology for grounding my clients in the practice of nonjudgmental self-compassion. If you’d like to learn more, I’d love to meet you!
